Rick Goings, chairman and chief executive officer of Tupperware Brands Corporation (NYSE: TUP), received an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Rollins College in Orlando during the May 13 commencement ceremony. The ceremony was held at the Alfond Sports Center and in attendance were Dr. Lewis Duncan, President Rollins College, former Rollins College Presidents Dr. Bornstein and Dr. Seymour as well as speaker Dr. Martha Canter, Undersecretary of U.S. Department of Education. Based in Orlando, Goings, who serves as a Board of Trustees member of Rollins College, was honored for his support of philanthropic causes and his distinguished leadership in representing Rollins. In addition to his Board service, he gave the commencement address to the college’s Crummer Graduate School of Business graduating MBA class last year and, this year, Tupperware Brands and Rollins jointly announced the creation of the Tupperware Brands Global Links Program, a yearlong externship and academic year in residence that is designed to educate Iraqi women and create a new generation of female Iraqi entrepreneurs. “I am very proud to receive an honorary doctorate from Rollins College for making a positive impact in Orlando and in communities around the world through education and service,” said Goings. “I feel so fortunate to work for a company that values stewardship and understands the importance of enlightening, educating and empowering women through skills- and confidence-building programs such as Global Links and through initiatives that create real social change. I feel honored to be affiliated with Rollins College and for this recognition.”

You could put on makeup … or you could put on makeup that protects your skin, smoothes wrinkles and infuses healthy antioxidants and minerals. We asked local beauty consultants for their top picks on products that do double duty for our skin.Clinique 3-Step Skin Care System: Clinique’s facial soap, clarifying lotion and moisturizer have been developed by dermatologists, and all products are allergy-tested. Use them together twice a day to cleanse, exfoliate and moisturize, resulting in clear, glowing skin. You can even customize your set based on your skin type: Dry, combination/oily very oily. Available at Macy’s.

Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus Serum: Use all over your face to rebuild collagen, correct UV damage and smooth fine lines and wrinkles. This product has been approved for use around the eyes, and promises dramatic results in four weeks. Available at Macy’s.

Clinique Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector: This lightweight serum evens skin tone and removes brown spots, acne scars and other dark spots. It promises a 58 percent reduction in coloration within 12 weeks. Available at Macy’s.

Lancome Visionnaire Advanced Skin Corrector: Smooth wrinkles, reduce visible pores and create overall evenness in skin tone with this skin-healing serum. Available at Macy’s.

Lancome Genifique Youth Activating Concentrate: Lancome representatives say the No. 1 thing women miss about their youthful skin is its luminosity. This serum improves skin from the inside out by boosting genes’ activity and stimulating production of youth proteins, resulting in soft, radiant skin. Available at Macy’s.

Perricone MD No Foundation Foundation: This nonchemical, broad-spectrum SPF 30 provides translucent, oil-free coverage. It also contains DMAE and alpha lipocic acids to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and enlarged pores. Use every day by itself or as a base. Available at Sephora.

Sarah McNamara Miracle Skin Transformer: This is a top-selling primer for clients with dry skin, says Cape Girardeau Sephora manager Dustin Duncan. Its powerful antioxidants hydrate, enhance and protect the skin, and an SPF 20 provides UVA and UVB protection. Available at Sephora.

Boscia BB Cream: Formulated for all skin types, this SPF 27 PA++ cream provides additional sun protection in a “translucent veil of protection,” says Duncan. It works to hydrate, firm and smooth skin, diminish the appearance of pores and provide light coverage. Available at Sephora.

BeautiControl Spa Facial Defend & Restore Moisture Lotion: This moisturizer has an antioxidant complex to protect from free radical and environmental damage, as well as anti-aging peptides to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and sagging skin. It’s lightweight, oil-free, sheer, and offers SPF 20 UVA/UVB protection. Available from BeautiControl consulants.

BeautiControl Spa Resurface Microderm Abrasian Facial Set and Multi-Acid Resurfacing Peel: Use these products together for “total, pure softness,” says Connie Enderle, BeautiControl independent director in Cape Girardeau. The Microderm Abrasian set contains aluminum oxide crystals that gently loosen and remove dead skin, exfoliating to combat wrinkles and age spots. It also helps with oily skin and large pores, and improves skin luminosity. An added bonus? It can even brighten up faded tattoos. The Multi-Acid Resurfacing Peel pads are moistened with a combination of alpha, poly and beta hydroxy acids and willow bark to encourage skin turnover, leading to healthier, younger-looking skin. Available from BeautiControl consultants.

Mary Kay NouriShine Plus Lip Gloss: This long-wearing, high-shine lip gloss is infused with natural humectants to improve lip texture and keep them looking young and supple. It also provides an instant boost of moisture, and comes in plenty of pretty colors — Cape Girardeau beauty consultant Heather Babb has them in just about every color, and applies them constantly! Available from Mary Kay consultants.

Mary Kay TimeWise Miracle Set: This system has been tested by dermatologists and is ideal for sensitive skin. The 3-in-1 Cleanser, Age-Fighting Moisturizer, Night Solution and Day Solution Sunscreen SPF 25 have been shown to reduce lines and wrinkles, improve skin elasticity and create a more even skin tone. TimeWise also has matte and luminous-wear liquid foundations to complete the system. Available from Mary Kay consultants.

Tupperware Brands has named RF|Binder Partners its global PR AOR following a competitive RFP process. RF|Binder will work with Tupperware, which is active in nearly 100 countries, on corporate and investor relations efforts, social responsibility initiatives, consumer engagement, and media outreach, said Elinor Steele, VP of global communications and PR at Tupperware. Eighty-eight percent of the company’s revenue comes from outside the US, she said.

Steele explained that the company selected RF|Binder because of its “strategic focus on all areas of PR,” as well as its “strong business media outreach both domestically and internationally.” She added that Tupperware picked the firm from four finalists, but declined to name the other agencies. Maloney & Fox was Tupperware’s incumbent agency for the last two years, Steele said.

Atalanta Rafferty, executive MD at RF|Binder, is leading the account. She said a team of 10 staffers will work with her. In addition to reaching out to national and international print and broadcast media, the focus for 2012 is mostly on business and financial media, Steele said, but Tupperware also wants the agency to position it to consumers as a “modern and fresh” brand.

RF|Binder will also focus on raising awareness of Tupperware’s “Chain of Confidence” initiative, which is a global movement that focuses on the importance of women’s self-confidence and their relationships with other women, said Steele.

Tupperware also recently launched a “Global Links” program with the help of the Secretary of State’s Office and Rollins College, in which it invited an Iraqi professor, Amel Abed Mohammed Ali, to live in Florida for one year and study business. She will then share what she learns with other women when she returns to Iraq, Steele said. RF|Binder is working on setting up media interviews for the professor to share her story, she added.
